Installed Fuel Pump Rewire
On 4/20/2005, I installed the Easy Performance Fuel Pump Rewire kit. The stock wiring to the Grand Prix fuel pumps is 18 gauge. Because of line losses in the wiring, the pump loses 1.5 to 2 volts of power. Since the fuel pump is a positive displacement rollervane pump, flow and fuel pump speed is affected by fuel pump voltage. By replacing the 18 gauge wire with 12 gauge wire and using a 12 gauge wire ground, fuel pressure gains of 2-3psi are seen. Since I have head work, cam, ported exhaust manifolds, and smaller pulleys, I needed to make sure my fuel system was up to spec. Anyway, here's a picture of what it looks like.
