Installed New Intake
On 3/11/2006, I built and installed my new intake. My old intake, before the Gen5, was the wizaired CAI. With the Northstar Throttle Body and LQ4 MAF, the intake tubing wouldn't fit right and would get kinked. So for the last few months, I was running an open cone in the engine bay until I got all the parts together for my new intake. I used the 4" tubing from ZZP, a roof flashing piece from Lowes as a heat shielf, and a new 7" long K&N air filter. The filter goes behind the driver's side headlight and pulls cool air from the fender. I think it looks better than the open cone. I'm not sure what kind of performance gains I'll get, if any.....but it's better than having an open cone in the engine bay sucking in warmer/hotter air. Anyway, here are a few pictures.
