Removed Window Tint
On 2/22/2004, a Lititz Police Officer pulled me over on my way back from church. Needless to say, I was not speeding or didn't break any laws, so knew it was my tint. He said that my tint was 30% in my front windows and 20% in my rear 3 windows. He told me that PA legal tint is 70% which is BS. TITLE 75 Section 4524 (e)(1) of the Pennsylvania Common Statutes states that:
(1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window of the vehicle.
A person can see in a car with 30-35% tint. However, my rear 3 windows were at 20% or lower, so I just decided to remove all of the tint and get it re-done at some point with 35% on all windows.
So on 2/28/2004, I spent 5 to 6 hours removing my tint from my car. The side windows were pretty easy, but the rear windows were horrible because I couldn't use a razor blade with the defroster wires.
Now that it is removed, I miss the privacy and sleek look with the black paint. Eventually this summer (hopefully before we go to South Carolina) I will get it re-tinted. Stay tuned!
