New Michelin Tires
On 1/21/2004, I took my car to Tire Consultants in Ephrata to take off the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position Tires that I had on my Mille Miglia Evo5 18" wheels and replace them with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's. The reason I did this is because I wanted to run my 18" wheels all year long instead of swapping wheels for the colder/wintry months. I figured that if I could sell the 18" Potenza tires and my stock 16" rims with goodyear tires, I would have enough money to buy a good set of 18" all seasons. So for the last month, I debated on 255/45 versus 245/45.....neither having much selection for Ultra High Performance All Season tires. It was going to either be Continental ExtremeContacts or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's in the 245/45 size. But if I was willing to move up to 255/45 size, I could get Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's or Yokohama AVS dB S2's. Since I was worrying about the tires rubbing my fenders when I get the GMPP suspension with the 255/45's, I decided to play it safe and get the 245/45's. Now that I knew which size I was going to get, I had to decide between the Continentals and the Michelins. I have two friends that have the Continentals, so I wanted to be different and I also didn't like the tread and sidewall pattern of the ExtremeContacts.
On 2/22/2004, I reinstalled my Evo5 Chrome rims with the new Pilot Sport A/S's. I was expecting as hard of a ride as the old Potenza's but to my surprise the ride was almost as comfortable as the stock 60-series tires. So far, I've been very happy with them. I just hope they last as long as possible since they were so darn expensive!
